Enhancing the Melt Flow Index in Recycled Polypropylene- Polytechs'™ VM PP 10X

As the industry shifts towards sustainability, manufacturers are increasingly turning to recycled materials. However, recycled polypropylene (rPP) often struggles to match the performance of virgin-grade polymers, especially in applications like injection molding. Flamingo India, in collaboration with Polytechs, recently assisted an Indian client in overcoming these challenges using Polytechs’ VM PP 10X—a game-changer for optimizing the Melt Flow Index (MFI) in recycled polypropylene.

Our client, a prominent player in the recycling sector, has a dedicated focus on recycled polypropylene (rPP) for injection molding applications. Their goal is to provide high-quality rPP that performs as well as virgin polypropylene, addressing a significant market need for sustainable materials.

In processing recycled polypropylene, our client encountered difficulty achieving the desired MFI that would allow their recycled product to perform comparably to virgin-grade materials. The solution had to provide enhanced flow properties while maintaining the structural integrity of the recycled material.

After assessing their needs, Flamingo India recommended Polytechs’ VM PP 10X Peroxide. Known for its ability to improve MFI in recycled polymers, VM PP 10X provided our client with an efficient way to upgrade their rPP’s flow properties to meet injection molding requirements.

Guided by Flamingo India’s team, the client incorporated a 0.5% concentration of VM PP 10X into their rPP processing. This carefully measured application enhanced the flow characteristics of their recycled polypropylene, closely aligning it with the performance of virgin material.

The implementation yielded remarkable results. The recycled polypropylene’s MFI was brought on par with that of virgin-quality material, enabling it to be effectively used in injection molding applications. Moreover, the addition of VM PP 10X helped narrow the molecular weight distribution, improving both performance and consistency.

Polytechs’ VM PP 10X has proven to be a transformative solution for recyclers looking to elevate the quality of their polypropylene. By enhancing fluidity and narrowing molecular weight distribution, VM PP 10X enables manufacturers to achieve a sustainable product without compromising quality.

Conclusion: Manufacturers using post-consumer recycled polypropylene can optimize MFI and overall performance with VM PP 10X. Contact Flamingo India to explore how this solution can help you meet your recycled polymer standards for injection molding applications.
