TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ – Active Additive

TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ is a zinc ricinoleate used as odor absorber with a key and locker principle; it is not working with a flavor principle.

Unique Features

1. Its excellent odor-absorbing properties (it is no flavor such as vanilla) make TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ especially suitable for the effective control of odors evolving from products like hydrogen sulfide, mercaptane, thioether, isovaleric acid, amines, and ammonia.
2. TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ provides good heat stability in the compounding process.
3. Compatibility with other chemicals has to be checked for each particular case and application.
4. TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ is especially suitable for polyolefins (e. g. LDPE, PP), rubber compounds (e. g. vulcanized TPE-V or EPDM), and recycled material (e.g. PA, polyolefins and rubber).
5. TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ reduces odor during dispersing of ultramarines (UB), yellow pigments, and oxidized carbon blacks. For special SBR rubber emulsions or acrylates with malodor, an aqueous formulation of TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ is available.

Application

1. TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ is used in color masterbatches typically with 1% in combination with pigments, e.g. 50 % UB in PP with 1% TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ or 10 % UB in PET with 1 % TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ.
2. TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ can be easily dry blended before compounding or directly fed on the extrusion line. However, due to its melting point of 70 °C the feeder should not get hot.
3. Use of the 100% active TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ in film lines with single screws is not recommended since it results in inhomogeneous distribution, holes or pressure peaks.

 

 

TEGO Sorb PY 50 PP and TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE - Masterbatch

TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE and TEGO Sorb PY 50 PP are masterbatches based on polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), respectively. The active component is zinc ricinoleate, which is working as an odor absorber according to the key and locker principle.

1. Their excellent odor-absorbing properties to make TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE and PP especially suitable for the effective control of odors evolving from products like hydrogen sulfide, mercaptane, thioether, isovaleric acid, amines, and ammonia.
2. TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE and TEGO Sorb PY 50 PP were developed since the direct use of the 100 % active TEGO Sorb PY 88 TQ in film lines with single screws is not recommended resulting in inhomogeneous distribution holes, or pressure peaks.
3. TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE and TEGO Sorb PY 50 PP enable precise dosing even for very small dosages.

 

Application

1. TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE and PP are used against malodour in the production of masterbatches and compounds. Malodour during these processes may result from the use of certain pigments, the use of recycled polymers or from vulcanization (TPE-V).
2. TEGO Sorb PY 50 PE and PP are even suitable for single screw applications. The products are used for cast and blown films made from recycled polyolefines.
